The first data storage device to employ blue laser-based technology, Ultra-Density Optical (UDO) was first introduced to the data storage market in late 2003. Manufactured by Plasmon Data, UDO initially offers a revolutionary 30GB of storage capacity on a single 130mm cartridge. Available in both a rewritable and write-once, read many (WORM) formats, UDO is an ideal choice to meet a wide variety of regulatory compliance data storage requirements. Certified and accepted as a worldwide data storage standard by ISO, IEC and ECMA organizations, UDO offers both data and long-term investment protection with a future upgrade path to 60GB in 2007 and 120GB by 2010.

UDO Performance

UDO offers a 35ms seek time with a 3 second spin-up that provides a 4GB/s write and 8GB/sec read performance, providing a mean-time-to-data in less than 10 seconds from shelf to application.


UDO Connectivity

UDO stand-alone drives and automated storage libraries are available with a standard Wide Ultra-SCSI2/3 LVD interface capable a sustained transfer rates near 40MB/second. UDO G-Series libraries are available with an optional fiber channel connectivity bridge for specific high-performance network and SAN environments.
